Tapathon 2025: Tapping Together for BBC Children in Need

Updated: Dec 2

On Sunday 23 November 2025, our Tappers joined a lovely local tap group at Hextable Village Hall to take part in the nationwide Tapathon, joining thousands of dancers across the UK in support of BBC Children in Need. With cowboy hats, heels clicking and Tina Turner’s Nutbush City Limits blasting through the speaker, it was a day filled with rhythm, laughter and a real sense of togetherness.

What Is Tapathon?

Tapathon is a nationwide annual event run by The Performers Project where tap dancers of every age and ability perform the same routine, at the same time, on the same day. It’s a brilliant way to feel part of something bigger, connect with the wider tap community and raise funds for a fantastic cause.

Tapathon may also contribute to a world record attempt for the largest number of people tapping simultaneously across multiple venues. The current record stands at 7,596 participants, and we were excited to do our part to help break it!

Our Tapathon 2025 Highlights

Our day kicked off at 11 am, learning the routine with the lovely Zoe leading the way. After a well earned break and a few group photos, we gathered for a final run through before the official record attempt at 1 pm.

The energy in the room was infectious – a mix of concentration, laughter and that satisfying click-click of heels. One tapper summed it up perfectly:

“Great fun and raising money for a great cause.”

Another added:

“Wonderful energy in the room. Everything was so well organised – can’t wait for the next episode!”

And one more that really warmed our hearts:

“It was great fun. Lovely to meet everyone and to see some familiar faces again. Thank you for all the hard work in organising everything.”

Community, Catch-Ups & Cowboy Boots

It was especially lovely to see faces we hadn’t seen for a while – a few even admitted that this was the first time they’d tapped since last year’s Tapathon!

That’s the magic of this event: it brings people back together, gets those tap shoes out of the cupboard, and reminds us all why we fell in love with dancing in the first place.

With our cowboy theme in full swing, there was plenty of laughter (and, of course, the occasional yee-haw) as we all shuffled and stomped our way through the afternoon.

Raising Money for BBC Children in Need

We were proud to join dancers nationwide in raising funds for BBC Children in Need this year. Our Hextable group raised £240, and every shuffle, tap and stomp added to the effort. We’re so grateful to everyone who donated and danced with us.

Now, we await the results to see if we helped break the world record. Fingers crossed! 🤞

What’s Next?

Tapathon always gives us that warm fuzzy “oh yeah, this is why we do it” feeling and whether you were in the hall with us or not this time, you’re absolutely welcome at anything we’ve got coming next.

We’ve got lots of workshops, socials and events coming, so if you fancy a bit more dancing in your life, take a look at our upcoming events, we’d love to have you along for the next one.

Until then,

Happy Tapping!
