Diane Hampstead

Diane is a beloved Tappers instructor, having been part of our community since the second ever TapUK festival. Once crowned one of Europe’s fastest tappers and the world’s best female solo tap dancer, Diane enjoyed a glittering career before stepping back from the spotlight. We’re lucky enough that she comes out of retirement specially for Tappers, bringing her signature sparkle (and just a touch of bonkers) to our events year after year. With her infectious energy, lightning-fast feet and warm, encouraging teaching style, Diane’s workshops are always full of fab tap and a lot of laughter. Whether you’re a new face or a long-time fan, dancing with Diane is a chance to learn from a true legend.

Jamie Read

Jamie is an ex-West End performer, an award-winning vocal coach and one of our regular and much-loved TapUK instructors. With more than 25 years of experience working across music, theatre, film and television, he brings a wealth of performance knowledge to every class, along with a wonderful sense of warmth and fun. With a warm, encouraging teaching style and a real love for close work, Jamie creates a relaxed, confidence-boosting space where dancers can connect, explore detail and enjoy moving together.

Avalon Rathgeb

Avalon is a leading force in contemporary tap dance — Founder and Artistic Director of the UK’s acclaimed company OKR Dance, Founder of the London Tap Dance Festival, and creator of the new solo show UnBound, directed by Josh Hilberman and premiering in Liège, Belgium. Her bold artistic vision and commitment to elevating tap as a theatrical artform have made her one of the most influential voices in the UK’s tap landscape today. We’re thrilled that Avalon will be joining us at Autumn Beats and sharing her incredible knowledge, artistry and love of tap with us. Her workshops are sure to be a very special addition to the weekend.
